Born in Houston, Nicole Baggott lived in New Jersey, Chicago’s suburbs and Memphis, where the family settled to launch a printing business. Dr. Baggott’s defining career revelation occurred in the third grade. “I’m going to be either an actress or a doctor,” she proclaimed to her mother. “I did a lot better in science and got a bad case of stage fright when I was in a 5th grade play, so a doctor it was!”
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board, and Kappa Delta, Baggott received her medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. Baggott had always known that she wanted to be a primary care doctor who worked with patients of all ages. After her first year in medical school, she did an externship and realized that Internal Medicine and Pediatrics were her true calling. “I wanted to get in-depth training in these specialties, even though it required an extra year of residency,” she said. Dr. Baggott completed her residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She will receive certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in 2005. She currently serves on Young Physicians committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Also, she is a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Baggott and her husband, Roland W. Baggott III, an attorney, live in Nashville with their beloved black lab, Derby. When she’s not treating patients, Dr. Baggott enjoys exercising, cooking, entertaining, travel and spending time with family and friends. She is on the Sumner County YMCA Board, is active in the Junior League of Nashville and participates in her sorority’s alumnae association.
