Are you at risk for Cancer?

Here at Nashville Med/Peds, we know that the best weapons against cancer are knowledge & treatment.  That's why we recommend this simple two step survey.  First, complete the survey questions listed below.  If you answer yes to any of the seven questions, take step two.  Ask us for a thorough examination.

Mark Yes if you have any of the symptoms described.  Mark No if you do not.

1.  Have you ever experienced a change in bowel or bladder habits?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

2.  Do you have a sore(s) that will not heal?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

3.  Do you have any unusual bleeding or discharge?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

4.  Do you have thickening or lump(s) in your breast(s) or elsewhere?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

5.  Do you have indigestion or difficulty swallowing?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

6.  Have you experienced an obvious change in a wart or mole?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

7.  Do you have a nagging cough or hoarseness?
     ___ Yes                ___ No

What was your score?
If you answered Yes to any of the seven survey questions, you should make an appointment with us for a thorough examination.  If you answered No to all of the seven survey questions do not forget the seven warning signs of cancer.

Cancer Risks
Avoiding certain risk factors and behaviors may help decrease your risk for developing cancer.  Remember:

      1.  Avoid cigarette and cigar smoke
      2.  Avoid overexposure to the sun
      3.  Eat a balanced diet low in fat & high in fiber
      4.  Exercise regularly
      5.  Avoid alcohol
      6.  Maintain a healthy weight
      7.  Avoid exposure to radiation

Cancer Screening
Cancer screening can result in early detection, diagnosis, and treatment.  Early detection and diagnosis of cancer can lead to a more favorable prognosis when treatment is received early in the disease course.  Ask us for a cancer screening plan individualized to meet your needs based on family history and health status.
